These past few weeks have been full of milestones for us. For starters we had our first typhoon, which really didn't turn out to be much more than a lot of wind and rain. Typhoon Kompasu hit the northern part of the island the worst but didn't do much to us besides give us a day off of work! We took all the necessary precautions, stored or sandbagged everything outside and made sure we had food and water in case the power went out Monday night thinking the storm would hit early Tuesday morning. Well, the morning was so nice outside that we went for a run and spent the rest of the day playing with the girls and relaxing. The storm was delayed and supposedly had worked up to a Category 3 but when it finally did hit us later that evening it didn't seem like anything much, just a little more windy and rainy than normal storms here. Not long after Kompasu, Tropical Storm Malou was expected to hit us during the Labor Day weekend. Once again it was more hype than anything, it just kept us stuck in doors all day Saturday due to the rain.
The girls have been doing great, these past three nights Laila has slept through the night, yay!! She's been going to bed around 7pm and sleeping until 6 or 7am. It's been so nice however the first two nights I didn't get a full nights sleep because I kept waking up thinking something may be wrong since she hadn't woken up yet. She's been doing really well at daycare too, everyone says she's such a happy baby and smiles all the time.
Kamea has had a few big events since the last post. For starters, she got into her first fight! Apparently she and another kid at daycare got into a fight over some toy and the other kid bit her on her cheek. They let us know when we came to pick her up and she was fine, just a tiny mark on her cheek but they said she was more shocked than hurt, poor thing! Today was a big day for Kamea, not only did she demonstrate on skype to Grandma and Grandpa Christ how she can stand by herself for a few seconds but later that afternoon she took her first step!!! Craig and I were playing with the girls in the living room and Kamea kept letting go of the coffee table or me and standing for a few seconds so I put my hands out and she took a step!!
Not much going on with work, just busy as always for the two of us. We had an exercise the other week which kept us both busy. Craig was working nights and I was working days so that was rough but the week went by quickly. We do have some new travel plans, we haven't set any firm plans but we're in the process of working a trip with another couple from here, they have three kids, to visit Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. We'll be going in early December and haven't decided what we're going to see yet so if anyone has any suggestions please let us know since we're still in the initial planning phase right now.
We hope everyone is doing well and we'll post again soon!
Catherine, Craig, Kamea & Laila
